It’s a mix of old and new that’s sure to please Zelda connoisseurs. ART STYLE AND CHRONOLOGICAL PLACEMENTįor those who appreciate fine art, “Twilight Princess” offers a visual feast that draws closer to the “Ocarina of Time” rather than the cartoonish “The Wind Waker.” Nestled chronologically between these two titles, it even lets players revisit some beloved locales from “Ocarina of Time.” With various provinces featuring dungeons and temples, players can later zip around with Midna’s magical assistance. Link’s human form is anything but ordinary, from swordplay to treasure hunting. But wait, there’s more! Our hero also acquires special items that enable him to perform unique techniques and access locations that previously seemed out of reach. He can run, fish, swing his sword, and aim his bow with the finesse of a seasoned warrior. It’s ruff, but someone has to do it! LINK’S HUMAN ABILITIES AND SKILLSĪh, human again! In his two-legged form, Link regains his traditional abilities. For Link, life as a wolf is like playing a fur-covered game of hide-and-seek, complete with tunnels and secret passages. The wolf must utilize its senses, including an uncanny ability to dig for hearts and rupees, push obstacles with its noggin, and even bite and pounce on foes. Playing fetch with swords and tools? Not for Wolf Link. THE ABILITIES AND LIMITATIONS OF WOLF LINK In wolf form, swords are passé, and Link must rely on his animal instincts to tackle challenges. But Link, our modest farm lad, instead transforms into a wolf! Talk about a hairy situation! Here’s where Midna, a native of the Twilight Realm, comes into play, aiding Link in his newfound canine form and helping him get back to his human state. The game turns dark when grotesque beings from a mysterious place known as the Twilight Realm appear, converting most into spectral apparitions. The real adventure begins when the world starts to crumble around him. Asked to undertake a task in Castle Town, Link finds himself caught in a tale where all is not as it seems. In the picturesque Ordon village, players take on the role of Link, a humble farm boy who cares for goats and younglings. “Twilight Princess” marked a significant first and final for the Legend of Zelda series: the first entry for the Wii and the last for GameCube.
